Definition: synchronized audience chanting during an idol performance

Definition: a CP’s sweet interactions

Notes: 糖 (táng) = candy, sugar

captain, team leader (队长)

Definition: a 48 Group member that leads and takes responsibility for their team

Notes: 队长 (duìzhǎng) = captain, team leader

Definition: smut, sexual content warning

Notes: used in fan fiction. any car emoji can be used

career fan (事业粉)

Definition: fans who focus on supporting their idol’s career development

Notes: 事业粉 (shìyè fěn) = career fan

Definition: SNH48 Group members’ pets (the majority of them are cats)

Notes: from “cat” or “pet” and “SNH48”

cb brain (cp 脑), cpn

Definition: seeing CP content where there is none, trying to make unrelated events about a CP

Notes: cp 脑 (cp nǎo) = CP brain

Definition: shameless

Notes: 凑不要脸 (còu bùyào liǎn) = shameless

cgt48, cgt, xijiti (稀鸡踢), xijijte (西吉特)

Definition: CGT48, a sister group of SNH48 based in Chengdu

Notes: from “Chengdu 48” (Chengtu 48). 稀鸡踢 (xī jī tī) and 西吉特 (xī jí tè) sound like “CGT”

chaohua, ch, supertopic (超话), st

Definition: Weibo Super Topic, community pages on Weibo for specific interests

Notes: 超话 (chāo huà) = super topic

chengba (成芭), cb, chengdu branch (成都分团)

Definition: CGT48 management

Definition: someone who “plays chess” by subtly manipulating people or situations to their advantage

Definition: the currency used in Pocket48 on idol gifts and services

chigua, eat melon (吃瓜)

Definition: reading or discussing rumors

Notes: originally refers to netizens who don’t know the truth about an incident and just “sit in the front row while eating melons”

Definition: election votes that are casted publicly

Notes: 明票 (míng piào) = clear votes

cold knowledge (冷知識)

Definition: trivia that is not well-known, simple facts that have been overlooked by others

Notes: 冷知識 (lěng zhīshì) = cold knowledge

cold violence (冷暴力)

Definition: a type of emotional abuse characterized by indifference or contempt towards another person

Notes: 冷暴力 (lěng bàolì) = cold violence

concurrency (兼任), kennin

Definition: having a position in two different 48 Groups or teams at once

Notes: from the Japanese 兼任 (kennin) = holding two positions concurrently

confused, muddled, vague (糊)

Definition: flopping, being unpopular

Notes: 糊 (hú) = muddled

cos, cosplay

Definition: dressing up as a particular character

Notes: from the Japanese コスプレ (kosupure) = costume play

Definition: cosplayer, someone who does cosplay

cosplay circle, cos circle (cos 圈)

Definition: cosplay fandom, the cosplay community

counterattack (逆袭)

Definition: an underdog rising up

Notes: 逆袭 (nì xí) = counterattack

Definition: Li Yitong

Notes: from 明星殿堂二姐 (míngxīng diàntáng èr jiě) = Star Palace second sister

cover the sky with one hand (一手遮天)

Definition: to decieve the public and hide facts or truth

Notes: 一手遮天 (yī shǒu zhē tiān) = to block out the sky with one hand and convince others that it does not exist

cowherd (牛郎)

Definition: gigolo, male escort, host

Notes: 牛郎 (niúláng) = cowherd. the term’s alternate meaning comes from the movie Midnight Cowboy

Definition: fan of a SNH48 Group CP

Notes: -gay is used as a suffix. example: KaHuang CP fans can be referred to as “kahuang gay” or “khg”

cp, sipi (西皮), xipi (稀丕), pairing, ship

Definition: two people paired or “shipped” together

Notes: from “character pairing”, “couple pairing”, or “coupling”

cpfan, cp fan, cpf, cp powder (cp 粉)

Definition: fan of a CP, shipper

Definition: organized fan club dedicated to a CP

Definition: to transfer a conversation to someone or bring attention to them

Definition: fans forming a bond with an idol by following the growth of the idol’s popularity, skills, and personal development

Definition: to play someone for a fool, to scam someone of their money

Notes: 割韭菜 (gē jiǔcài) = cutting leeks
